No town is perfect, but when I moved to this little hill country, lakeside town outside of Austin 20 years ago, I immediately felt right at home. I wasn't homesick a day. It 's close enough to Austin to take advantage of all it offers, but far enough out to feel like you're living in the country (even if you're in the city limits!) Small schools, neighbors who care, lots of churches, more activities than you could ever pack into your calendar, plus the best 4th of July parade and fireworks show you've ever seen.
